The Knights of Columbus Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) allows a local Council to “adopt” a seminarian each year to help that seminary candidate both financially and morally so that they can work towards ordination. The local Council receives financial reimbursements from the Knights Supreme Council as part of the program to offset costs to the local Council. This makes the program a great win-win for both the local Council and the seminarian being sponsored, as well as, lifts some of the financial costs needed to obtain priesthood. Think of the program as scholarship for seminarians that also includes moral support from the seminarian’s future faith community.

The Knights of Columbus Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 “adopted” seminarian Kareem Smith the last year three years (2016-2018) as part of the RSVP program. Kareem worked his way towards priesthood through diligent study and rigorous faith formation over the last few years. He continually expressed to our Council his yearning to serve Jesus Christ and all of the Lord’s children. It is with pride and happiness that we report that on May 26, 2018 Kareem was ordained by Timothy Cardinal Dolan as a Priest to serve in the Archdiocese of New York along with four other men. An additional four other men were ordained in the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. These nine newly ordained Religious make up the Class of 2018 for the Archdiocese of New York.

All of the Brother Knights in the The Knights of Columbus Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 would like to congratulate Father Kareem Smith on his ordination and thank him for his devotion to serve our Lord Jesus Christ, as well as, all his people around the world. Please keep Father Kareem in your prayers as he begins his service and begins to minister to the faithful of the Archdiocese of New York.
