Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 – July 2018 Activities Summary
Preschool Playground Swing Sets Removal – Clean up of the old Church of the Infant Saviour Preschool Playground was unable to continue in July due to the very hot weather conditions. The good news is the Church’s insurance provider sent out an inspector who reported that the remediation efforts thus far were acceptable and no penalties would be applied to the Church’s policy as such. This was our goal for the Church and thank you to all the Knights who worked hard to make this work a success. Work will (barring further weather issues) resume in August and the lone remaining playground set wooden frame removal will be completed.
Building the Domestic Church Evangelization Booklet Giveaway – Our Council has purchased 250 booklets that we are distributing at no cost to parishioners of the Church of the Infant Saviour. The booklet is called “The Family Fully Alive”. This booklet is part of the Knights of Columbus’ larger “Building the Domestic Church” evangelization efforts for 2018. The booklet is aimed at helping all of us to live out the Church’s mission and vision for our families. You can find an online preview of the book here. The booklet is now available in the Church Atrium and does not have to be returned– it’s your to keep for free! You can find out more info here.
Works of Mercy – Two Knights from our Council donated time to help a person in need to move their family into a new home. Our Council also donated $300 to help make the move possible and cover the costs associated with the move. Our Council routinely takes up of Works of Mercy to help those in need within the Parish Community especially the elderly, the sick, the poor, and the forgotten. The donations given to us through our Council’s fundraisers make this work possible as do the generous donations of time from the Knights in our Council. We appreciate all the donations given to us over the past years and thank you for your continued support of our Christian efforts to help those in need within our Community (and beyond).
Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 – Looking Ahead for 2018
Summer Social Activity – We are going to be holding a Summer Social Hour for all active Council members over the Summer at the Council Hall. The Council is also working on setting up an off site Social Activity for Knights and their spouses. More info to follow as plans are firmed up– watch your email for more info!
Religious Education Support Donation – Last year we donated money to the Church of the Infant Saviour Catechism Religious Education Program. This program educates children in school grades first through seventh grade in Catholic belief and faith. The curriculum works each child towards the Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation. Our Council will once again be making a donation this year to the program. An announcement will be made as we draw closer towards the donation. Our Council has decided to make this donation part of our Annual Charitable Giving plan and is yet another way our Council helps the local Catholic community through charitable giving, as well as, volunteer work. Currently three of our Council Brother Knights are Catechists in the program and have been for several years.
