Hurricane Michael has battered Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas, and it’s heading northeast.
Over more than 1 million homes have been damaged over the past 72 hours. Some are completely submerged by water, others completely flattened by 155 MPH winds or caught in uncontrolled fires. Hazardous conditions have closed off roads and cell towers have toppled, leaving thousands cut off from communication and help.
It’s the strongest hurricane to hit Florida’s panhandle ever, and the strongest to hit Georgia since 1898. And in the Carolinas, 50-55 mph wind gusts and flash flooding are tearing through areas not yet recovered from Florence.
