Our Lady of the Assumption Church, at 17 High St. in Bloomingburg, NY, will present a live nativity from 4:30-5 p.m. and 6:30-7 p.m. Dec. 1.
Parishioners will serve as the cast: Mary, Joseph, the Angel, the Wise Men and shepherds. A sheep, goat and pony belonging to a local 4-H member and a parishioner will also participate, undoubtedly adding their own occasional commentary. The stable will be constructed within the Fr. Jim Hess Pavilion. The church choir and a narrator will offer the Christmas story in carol and verse. Carmelite novices from Saint Brandsma Priory in Middletown will assist with the presentation.
When the live nativity was last presented, more than 100 people gathered to see and hear it. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served afterward in the parish center. There will also be small craft projects available for the children.
