The Knights of Columbus Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329’s first 2019 Lenten Dinner was held on Friday; March 9, 2019 and the event was a success! We had a large amount of take out “to go” orders despite the $5 per serving cost. The community dinner was well attended too. All patrons who stayed to dine in paid nothing for their meal. It was great to see that so many Parishioners decided to stay and dine in together. Deacon Jack Carr and Father Niranjan Rodrigo both attended the community dinner to show their support. We’re grateful to Father Rodrigo for allowing the Knights the use of the Parish Kitchen and Church Hall for the 2019 event series. Thanks to all the Brother Knights whose volunteer work helped make this event a great success and insured that everything ran smoothly. Last, but certainly not least– thank you to all the Parishioners and patrons who purchased meals or stayed for the community dinner. We appreciate your support and thank you for coming out!
Special kudos to our Knight chefs, Joe “Chef of the Future” Leclair and Grand Knight Charlie ” Take your Feetsa to Charlie’s Pizza” Cino. Everyone enjoyed a heaping portion of either linguine with clams or linguine marinara thanks to these two, as well as, all of the Knights who worked the kitchen and the front service station. Charlie also baked up fresh focaccia garlic bread and it was absolutely delicious. Light refreshments were also served for those who stayed for the community dinner. The feedback from all attendees was rave reviews and we had a very positive response to the community dinner from all of those who stayed.
Next week on Friday; March 15, 2019 we will be serving our second 2019 Lenten Dinner. The menu is pasta fagioli soup (that’s “fah-zool” for those of you who don’t speak Italian). The dinner is take out only and the cost is $5 per serving. You can send in your orders via email and all orders must be in by Thursday; March 14, 2019 at 5 pm. There will also be an order list in the Church Atrium and also another order list in the Church Hall after each Mass this weekend for you to place orders for the event.
As always we need volunteers so any Brother Knight who would like to help is welcome to do so. As those who have volunteered in the past will tell you, those Knights who do volunteer for the event always get more out of it than they give! Please be at the Church Hall by 6 pm if you wish to help out.
Meals will start being served after the 6:30 pm Stations of the Cross concludes in the main Church (around 6:50 pm). All meals can be picked up in the Church of the Infant Saviour Church Hall starting at that time. Please be aware that doors will close at 7:30 pm. If you need to arrange a later pickup please let us know ahead of time.
Going forward the schedule for the next dinners are (menu subject to change):
3/22- Baked Ziti
3/29 – White (New England) or Red (Manhattan) Clam Chowder
4/5- To be determined
4/12- Pizza and a Movie Night
Each of these Lenten Dinner events above will also be pick up only except for the last event that will be pick up or stay in. Cost will also be $5 per serving for all events. More details will be announced a week before each event.
Buon Appetit.
