The Knights of Columbus Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 held its second Lenten Dinner for 2019 on Friday; March 15, 2019 at the Church of the Infant Saviour Church Hall (22 Holland Ave.; Pine Bush, NY 12566). The menu for the night was pasta fagioli soup. Each patron received a sixteen ounce cup of soup filled to the brim with soup and pasta. Sneak peak samples of the soup by Brother Knights working the event produced rave reviews. Our two head chefs (and fellow Brother Knights) Joe Leclair and Grand Knight Charlie Cino outdid themselves as usual. Patrons were served quickly. The event followed the Stations of the Cross at the Church so despite the initial rush all were served and on their way within five minutes. Others trickled in after to pick up their orders.
GK Cino used some extra downtime during the event to work on experimental pizza and focaccia bread recipes for our series ending Pizza and Movie night. Brother Knights volunteering at the event got to sample these excellent recipes for free. It was GK Cino’s way of saying thank you to all the Brothers Knights who helped out to make the event a success. One hit with the Brother Knights was pasta fagioli pizza. It was amazing!
Thank you to all who bought soup– we appreciate the continued support of our fellow Parishioners and community members! Thank you to Father Rodrigo for allowing us the use of the Church Kitchen and Hall for the Lenten Dinner series this year– we are grateful for your support and the leadership you show our Parish as pastor! Finally thank you to all the Brother Knights who helped out. Without you all we could never have such successful and enjoyable dinners!
Next week on Friday; March 22, 2019 our Council will be serving baked ziti for our third Lenten meal. The dinner is take out only and the cost is $5 per serving. You can send in your orders via email and all orders must be in by Thursday; March 21, 2019 at 5 pm. There will also be an order list in the Church Atrium and also another order list in the Church Hall after each Mass this weekend for you to place orders for the event. Meals will start being served after the 6:30 pm Stations of the Cross concludes in the main Church (around 6:50 pm). All meals can be picked up in the Church of the Infant Saviour Church Hall starting at that time. Please be aware that doors will close at 7:30 pm. If you need to arrange a later pickup please let us know ahead of time.
As always we need volunteers so any Brother Knight who would like to help is welcome to do so. As those who have volunteered in the past will tell you, those Knights who do volunteer for the event always get more out of it than they give! Please be at the Church Hall by 6 pm if you wish to help out.
Looking forward the schedule for the other Lenten dinners are (menu subject to change):
3/29 – White (New England) or Red (Manhattan) Clam Chowder
4/5- To be determined
4/12- Pizza and a Movie Night
Each of these Lenten Dinner events above will also be pick up only except for the last event that will be pick up or stay in. Cost will also be $5 per serving for all events. More details will be announced a week before each event.
Hope to see you there!
