Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 – February 2019 Activities Summary

Lenten Dinner Meals – The liturgical season of Lent began on Ash Wednesday, which was March 6, 2019 this year. Once again this year our Council will be preparing and serving Lenten dinner meals to go each Friday during the season. Each meal will be meatless as is Catholic tradition for Lent.

Our first dinner was held on Friday; March 8, 2019. Our Council hosted a Parish Community Dinner at the Church of the Infant Saviour Parish Hall. All who stayed ate free. The menu was linguine with either white clam sauce or red marinara sauce. The sauces were homemade by Brother Knights Joe Leclair and Charlie Cino. The event was a huge success and no one went home hungry. Take out meals were available for $5/serving. You can read more about the event here. Thank you to all who attended, as well as, to all Brother Knights who donated their time at the event!

Our second Lenten Dinner Meal was served on Friday; March 15, 2019. The menu was pasta fagioli soup. Cost was $5 per serving. Again Brother Knights Joe Leclair and Charlie Cino outdid themselves– the soup was delicious! You can read more about the dinner here. Again, thank you to all who attended, as well as, to all Brother Knights who donated their time at the event!

2019 Lenten Cross Raising – Our Council once again this year donated its time to raise and dress the outdoor crucifix display in front of the Church of the Infant Saviour. A new sash was added to make sure the cross looks its best. This crucifix is an annual Church outdoor display that was started last year by Church of the Infant Saviour Pastor and Brother Knight Fr. Niranjan Rodrigo. The Msgr. Conlan Knights Council donated all the funds needed for the materials to build the crucifix last year. Brother Knight Jerry Domingue generously donated his time and craftsmanship to construct the crucifix. On March 5, 2019 several Brother Knights gathered to put the cross up. The crucifix will be on display in front of the Church of the Infant Saviour (22 Holland Ave.; Pine Bush, NY 12566) until the end of the Catholic Liturgical season of Easter on June 9, 2019. Thank you to Fr. Rodrigo for continuing to shepherd our Parish and for making sure our Church stands as a beacon of hope, as well as, joy for our Community. Thank you to all the Brother Knights who helped out with putting up the cross this year and to Brother Jerry Domingue for his continued good work maintaining our Parish’s building and grounds. You can read more about the event here.
