Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 – June 2019 Activities Summary
2019 Annual College Scholarship Essay Winner Selected – Annually our Council offers a $500 scholarship for a graduating senior that lives in the Pine Bush School District and is a practicing Catholic. Essays are submitted on a topic chosen by the Scholarship Committee and then voted upon by that Committee. This year’s winner was Isabella Sapio! We wish Ms. Sapio and all the graduates good fortune in their future endeavors. May God Bless them and their families abundantly! You can read more about the announcement here.
End of Fraternal Year – July marks the annual end of the Knights of Columbus’ Fraternal Year. Many Councils, including ours, take the month off to allow for Summer vacations and a clean “close of business” for the year. As such, we will not be having a Council Meeting in July 2019 as previously posted here. Our monthly Council meetings will resume in August 2018. As always, we thank all our Brother Knights in our Council and their families who volunteer so generously throughout the year in support of our Council’s efforts. We also thank all the Parishioners of the Church of the Infant Saviour and the larger Catholic faith community of the Pine Bush Area for supporting our programs throughout the year, as well as, for your generous donations towards our efforts. Finally, we thank Father Rodrigo (the Pastor of Infant Saviour), Deacon Jack Carr, Deacon Frank Rose, and all the administrative staff at the Church for their continued support and assistance throughout the year. Your help allows us to use the Church facilities and to make our events happen– we are grateful for all you do for us throughout the year. Our Council is blessed to have such a great community as Pine Bush and we look forward to making this new Fraternal Year an even more successful one filled with charity, unity, fraternity, and faith.
Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 – Looking Ahead
New Council Hall – Thanks to the generous donations of many parishioners at the Church of the Infant Saviour, our Church has raised the funds needed to rehabilitate the former preschool building that our Council currently uses as our Council Hall into a rectory for Parish Priests. Father Rodrigo is working with several of our Parishioners and hired professionals to begin the process of receiving approvals needed from the Town of Crawford to begin work. As a result, our Council will be moving our Council Hall in the coming months to the Church Hall. As part of that move, we will be donating time and material to rehabilitate the Church’s kitchen including installing a new commercial grade sink. This is a win-win for all involved: Our Church will get a proper rectory to house our Pastor, associate Pastors and visiting Priests for many years to come. Our Church will also get an updated kitchen for use by Parish community. Our Council will get a new space to hold its monthly meetings at. Stay tuned for an announcement of when we will formally begin meeting in the Council Hall (ETA is around September 2019). For now though, we are continuing to meet in the preschool building until that notice is issued.
