On Saturday, November 28, 2020 the Knights of Columbus Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 assisted Father Niranjan Rodrigo in putting up the Parish Christmas Tree at the Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush, NY. Traditionally the Parish hosts an Annual Christmas Tree Blessing ceremony after the first Saturday evening 5p mass at the Church for the first Sunday of the liturgical season of Advent. While 11/28/20 was the first evening mass of Advent, because of the ongoing restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the actual blessing and lighting ceremony could not be held as it was in past years.
Normally, in years past, after the blessing/lighting of the Parish tree we would have sung Christmas carols and hymns, as well as, gathered after the ceremony in the Parish Hall as a Parish Community to celebrate the start of the Advent season with a light meal and refreshments. For this year though the event had to be a simpler small group of Knights putting up the tree and decorating it with Father present to bless it. As in years past, the Knights donated the tree and covered all costs associated with decorations/lights on the tree, as well as, the volunteers needed to get the tree setup in front of the Church.
The Infant Saviour Parish Christmas Tree will be lit every night during the Advent and Christmas liturgical seasons up until at least the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Please make sure to stop by Infant Saviour and see it. Our Council hopes this little tree will stand as a small, but important reminder in our community that the light of the Lord Jesus Christ shines through all dark and challenging times like we are experiencing now. Nothing can stop the Lord’s wonderful and blessed works– no evil will prevail ultimately against Him or Heaven. The Lord’s light and love will conquer all making it subject to Him. This is our hope and faith we can reflect upon as we ready ourselves for Christmas.
Our Council would like to thank Father Rodrigo for once again having the Knights donate the Parish Christmas tree. We would also like to thank Brother Knights Matt Rommel, Ken Finnegan, and Chris Welch for donating their time to help out, as well as, Brother Knight Mike Fennick for organizing the project, as well as, picking up all the supplies needed.
