Fr. Niranjan Rodrigo, Pastor of the Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush NY, recently celebrated his twenty fifth year in the priesthood in April 2024. Called the “sliver anniversary” it marks twenty five years since Fr. Rodrigo was ordained a priest. Father has served in several other parishes over the past two plus decades in the Archdiocese of New York (along with a longer arc of service dating back to his home country of Sri Lanka where he initially studied for religious vocation and was ordained), but we have the honor of having him as Pastor for the longest period (eight years). On Sunday, April 28, 2024 our parish community gathered to celebrate this milestone with Father in a Sliver Anniversary Jubilee luncheon.
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #2780 Infant Saviour hosted the luncheon event and provided all the food for it. They did an amazing job! This wonderful group of women is a Catholic sororal lay group very similar in purpose/function to what we do as Knights (we are the fraternal version of this service based model of lay ministry) and they do so much for our Parish, Community, and Church! They also have a wonderful Mother’s Nest that freely offers mothers in need clothing, food, and other supplies for their children all year long. We are so grateful for them sponsoring this celebration event and being such amazing hostesses!
Our Council’s Deputy Grand Knight Sam Cerone spoke for our Council during the recognition portion of the event. DGK Cerone did an excellent job of summarizing how much our Council appreciates Father Rodrigo for all he has so graciously done for our community, Council, Parish, and our Church. Father is an amazing man who is very accomplished in both his educational background and his career as a priest. He’s a talented musician and artist. He serves our Parish with humility and compassion. DGK Cerone covered so much of this along with the others who spoke that day about how Father has so positively impacted their lay ministries and our parish community as a whole.
You can find pictures and more information about Father’s Silver Jubilee Celebration here in the Infant Saviour 5/5/24 edition of the parish bulletin. Congratulations again Father Rodrigo and here is to many more years to come of priestly service!
On Sunday, May 26, 2024; Financial Secretary Christopher Welch presented Father with a certificate recognizing his service to our Council, Knights (Father is 4th Degree Knight), Parish, Church and commemorating his Silver Anniversary. Our Council continues to be especially appreciative of his presence during our monthly Council meetings and his continued spiritual guidance as we serve in our lay ministries in the community, Parish, and Church. He continues to be a mentor and friend to so many of our Brother Knights.
Please keep Father Rodrigo in your prayers as he continues to pastor our faith community of Infant Saviour along with all our priests throughout the world who so selflessly serve our Lord!
