Remembering Those Brave Soldiers Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice

Pray this Memorial Day for all our fallen soldiers.

Memorial Day is more than barbecues and the unofficial start to the Summer vacation season. It is a day to honor, remember, and pray for all those brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service and lost their life while defending our freedom as a member of the US military. Truly the ultimate sacrifice is to give one’s life selflessly to defend those whom you love and to uphold our freedom in service to our country. The History Channel has a very good write up covering the history and origin of Memorial Day here.

The Knights of Columbus hold as one of its four main tenants Patriotism. We believe it is very important to honor, serve, and remember those veterans who have lost their life defending our freedom, which includes the freedom to worship as you see fit to do so. We remember that without that sacrifice we would not be able to pray freely and openly as we do today.

This Memorial Day we humbly ask you take a moment to pray for all the souls of our brave men and women of the military who are no longer with us and remember the bravery it took to make the sacrifice of self while in service to our country.

A Memorial Day Prayer

God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons
and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

May God intern all our fallen soldiers’ souls who sacrificed themselves selflessly for our freedom eternally within His love, rest, and peace now and forever!
