Knights Put Up Parish Christmas Tree

On Saturday, November 27, 2021 the Knights of Columbus Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 gathered to purchase, coordinate transport, put up and decorate the Church of the Infant Saviour Parish Christmas Tree just in time for the first Sunday of Advent. Annually our Council purchases and decorates the Parish Christmas Tree as part of our Works of Charity annual giving plan. We started this tradition about a decade ago. The tree this year is taller than ever standing around 13′ tall and decorated with 600 large lights. It took a good number of Brother Knights to get the tree properly footed in the ground and secured with guide lines; but the effort was worth it. The tree really stands out as you pass the Church at night and is a real nice way to remind our community about the light of Christ present not only this time of year during the Advent/Christmas season, but all year round in each of us.

Our Council was able to purchase this tree because of our recent Coin Drop fundraiser and also the recent C&B raffle books fundraiser– thank you again to everyone who donated that made this possible! This is just the first of several projects we are working on for the Christmas season using the over $1,200 we raised from these two fundraising campaigns and we thank you for trusting our Council with your financial support so we can do things like this for our church, community, and faith.

Special thank you to all the Brother Knights who helped out on Saturday: DGK Matt Rommel, Brother Knight Ray Perry, Brother Knight Mike Fennick, Treasurer John Leinihan, Brother Knight Ken Finnegan, Brother Knight Jerry Domingue, and FS Chris Welch. Ray Perry and Mike Fennick were also kind enough to coordinate ahead of time the purchase of the tree through West Wind Tree Farms (543 Bruyn Turnpike, Wallkill, NY 12589) who was also extremely kind in donating delivery of the tree for free that same day. Matt Rommel figured out how to program the electrical timer and got the lights lit after some technical glitches just around 6 pm. Matt was kind enough to make sure everything worked and resolved this technical issue so we were sure everything was working properly that night. We really appreciate all these Brother Knights for volunteering their time and energy to make this happen for the Parish this year.
