Annual May Flowers for the Blessed Mother Veneration Devotional

Knights Sponsor May Flowers for the Blessed Mother Veneration Devotional

In May we celebrate mothers with Mother’s Day. In the Catholic Church, May is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and May is known in the Catholic Church Liturgical calendar as the “Month of Mary”. It is a time for special devotions that honor the Virgin Mary as the Mother of God and Mother of the Church. What better way to honor and give thanks for Our Blessed Mother Mary than to bring her flowers? The offering of flowers to the Blessed Mother is a sign of our affection for her just as we do with our own mothers on Mother’s Day. It helps us remember that Mary is our spiritual mother given to us as such by Jesus Christ himself while on the Cross of Calvary (John 19:27).

The Knights of Columbus Monsignor James S. Conlan Council #5329 will be once again this year be sponsoring a May devotional for the Blessed Mother at the Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush NY. The Knights will have available in the Church of the Infant Saviour’s main entrance narthex (the front entrance area of the church) at each weekend mass carnations that can be purchased and left with the Blessed Mother statue located on the main church’s front sanctuary area in vases that will be placed at the Blessed Mother’s feet for this purpose. Starting on Saturday, May 2, 2025 at the 5pm Mass these carnations will be sold for $3.00 each by the Knights of Columbus for you to place in the vases near our Mother Mary. She will be showered by your tokens of love by doing so.

There will also be blank small paper sheets and pencils to write your personal prayer petitions on to ask for prayer intentions from our Lord and intercession with these prayer petitions from His Blessed Mother. You can place those prayer intentions in the basket that will also be found at  the feet of the Blessed Mother near to where the carnations vases will be. There is no charge to place petitions and all are encouraged to do so whether or not they purchase a carnation. Mary our Queen of Heaven in turn, will take them into her Immaculate Heart and bring them to her son Jesus Christ.

This Marian devotion will take place every weekend from May 2, 2026 through May 24, 2026; please feel free to shower Mother Mary with flowers as often as you like. There will be fresh flowers available at every weekend mass from 5/2/26 through 5/24/26 for a small $3 donation for each flower and there is no limit as to the quantity of carnations or the amount of times that you may present flowers to her as your token of love. We just ask that you make the appropriate donation per flower each time you take a carnation. This offsets the cost of the flowers to our Council. We make a very small amount of money above the donation (about a $1 each) that in turn will be used for future works of charity in both our Church and Pine Bush community.

In particular, we are looking to offset our most recent donation to a seminarian at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY (we donated $500 in April 2026 to the Seminary student who will hopefully one day be consecrated as a Priest in the Archdiocese of NY in the coming years upon completion of his studies/formation). In April 2026, we also purchased sacramentals as gifts given to both our second grade students who will receive their First Holy Communion later in May 2026 as well as our eight grade students who made their Confirmation a few weeks back in April 2026. We do this each year for Infant Saviour’s Religious Education Program and we know these gifts to the children foster their faith at a critical time in their childhood as well as support that faith as they continue to mature and become adults.

In honoring your Blessed Heavenly Mother this May you will also help our Knights of Columbus here at Infant Saviour spread Mary’s love and her love of her son Jesus Christ, by this work of charity. Again this is a longtime Catholic devotion and our Council is proud to offer it each year at Infant Saviour Church as an annual devotional for our Parish community to participate in.

We also continue to sponsor a monthly Catholic men’s pray group available to all the adult male Parishioners of both Infant Saviour Church in Pine Bush (along with its mission church of Our Lady of the Valley in Walker Valley) and St. Paul’s RC Church in Bullville. Our Cor Catholic Men’s Prayer Group program is a wonderful way for Catholic men in our parishes to develop and foster their Faith in a communal prayer environment. The Cor Men’s Prayer group meets monthly in the Parish Hall at Infant Saviour Church. We are thankful for all our Catholic brothers in the Parish who have faithfully attended these prayer group meetings over the past year plus of its existence at Infant Saviour Church. We hope to see even more of our Catholic brothers in both parishes attend the next meeting that can be found in the Infant Saviour and St. Paul’s church bulletins as well as on our web site’s Events Calendar here.

We hope you will purchase a carnation and place a prayer intention with the Blessed Mother this May so we can shower Mary with flowers as well as seek her intercession for our spiritual, physical, and mental needs that we present to her asking for her intercession with her Son Jesus in our prayers. Mary Queen of Heaven, Mother of God and Mother of our Church– pray for us!
